A Tryst with soil

Soil Testing Laboratory

Since the inception of Mrinmayee, we have delved deep into understanding the properties of different soils and carefully curating mix proportions to help stabilize it. With over 30 years of insightful experience in this field, we also provide this service to all of you who want to build with stabilized mud. Our soil testing lab is a space wherein we understand the language and behaviour of soils to help our clients have the best experience with stabilized mud for load bearing masonry buildings

The Process

Collecting the soil

For the first step, a soil sample is sent to our laboratory for our team to examine and test it

Testing

We assess the contents and properties of the soil and arrive at the mix proportion with suitable stabilizers to achieve a wet compressive strength of 3.5 Mpa or more.

Reporting

A test certificate is then prepared and sent based on our findings.

Artisan Training

We believe that artisans are the craftsmen who bring our vision to life. Their efforts help transform our sketch to structure and your dream into reality.

How do we help artisans?

We provide artisan training to help them understand, employ and perfect different techniques used while constructing buildings using stabilized mud.

What Techniques are taught?

They will be trained in accordance with the load bearing masonry structure they will be building. It starts with –

  • Mixing soil and stabilizer in the right proportion
  • Preparing mortars like lime pozzolana
  • How to use the “Mardini” mud block press and maintain the machine
  • Block making techniques ( for SBMs, adobe, mud concrete) / rammed earth techniques
  • Block stacking and curing techniques
  • Advanced masonry techniques of arches, vaults and domes

Where do we train artisans?

We provide onsite training where our experts arrive at the site of construction for a period of time and help the artisans learn and master techniques of stabilized mud construction in load bearing masonry.
